Angola.The city of Angola is the county seat of Steuben County with a population of approximately 7,344 people based on the 2000 census.  The city was first settled by pioneers from Angola, New York,

 

Ashley. A small town with a big outlook, Ashley is conveniently located on the west side of I-69, within access to the tri-state area as well as Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Toledo.  Ashley has  all of the services of the larger metropolitan area but at a lower cost.

 

Fremont.. The Town of Fremont is a small community of 1,696 citizens situated in the northeast corner of the State of Indiana.  Fremont is the second largest community in Steuben County and is located just over one mile south of the Michigan state  line and approximately five miles west of the Ohio state line. 

 

Hamilton.  The Town of Hamilton Indiana is a small community located on the border of Steuben County, Indiana and DeKalb County, Indiana. The population was 1,233 at the 2000 census. Although we have always remained a small town, historically our population explodes in the summer months due to the appeal of our wonderful lake. Hamilton Lake covers over 800 acres with a depth of over 90'. Downtown Hamilton is located along the south shore of the Lake, offering many restaurants, merchants and professional services.

 

Orland. Orland is the oldest town in Steuben county and was first settled in 1834 by John Stocker from Vermont. As more Vermonters followed the Vistula Trail across Ohio and into Indiana, the local area that developed along The Vistula Trail was called "The Vermont Settlement."
