Angola

 
The city of Angola is located at the intersection of U.S. 20 and State Road 127 in Northeast Indiana. Angola is the county seat of Steuben County with a population of approximately 7,344 people based on the last census in 2000. Our history: The City of Angola was first settled by pioneers from Angola, New York, Angola was platted by Thomas Gale and Cornelius Gilmore on June 28, 1838, and incorporated as a village that same year. In the center of the city there is a soldiers monument which pays homage to the 1,278 Steuben County residents who fought during the civil war.
