FREMONT - The Fremont Chamber of Commecer has invested $2,011 in the Indiana Metropolitan Area Network fiber optic infrastructure building fund.
"The Chamber Board of Directors thought it was an importantant investment in the future of the Fremont community. The mission of the Chamber is to support and improve the businesses in our community, and the importance of having a fiber optic backbone will enhance our marketing efforts to retain and attract investment and bring new jobs to our town and the whole area," said Chamber President Linda Fulton.
In October 2010, the Steuben County Commissioners and Council approved a $2 million appropriation from Major Moves, leaving iMAN officials with another $562,000 to raise in order to complete the project all over Steuben County.
"Including the gift, the total raised now is over $127,000, which is great, but we know we still have work to do," said Bill Geiger, iMAN CEO and project manager.
