Kain Tool Announces Orland Expansion Plans

02/12/2013

(Orland, IN)  Kain Tool, Inc., located in Orland, Indiana announced plans to expand its building, add equipment and hire additional employees to meet growing demand for their workholding solutions.  The company was established by Rodney and Melody Kain in 1986 as a home-based, general machine shop.  Opportunities to design and build assembly line components precipitated relocation into a 10,000 sq. ft. building in the Orland Industrial Park in 2008.  Rodney’s sons, Ryan and Heath, joined the company about the time new design and manufacturing opportunities in assembly line components and workholding were identified.

Kain Tool, Inc. acquired the 10,000 sq. ft. building in December 2012.  The Orland Town Council approved tax abatement for an estimated investment of $250,000 for a 10,000 sq. ft. building expansion, and $170,000 in new machinery and equipment.   The company is actively searching for a qualified CAD operator and CNC machine operator, to expand its existing workforce from eight to 10.  “The design and manufacture of assembly line and workholding equipment has opened new opportunities for our company, stated Rodney Kain, adding, “We need to decide how big and how fast we can grow.”  Kain Tool designs and manufactures components for assembly lines used in several industries sectors, including automotive, heavy equipment, and agricultural products.  Components are designed to improve ergonomics and efficiencies of the line.

“We’re happy to see Rodney and Ryan grow this business in Orland.  We’ll do whatever we can to help with that growth.” said Kevin Kellett, President of the Orland Town Council.   Orland is a small town located in the northwest corner of Steuben County, Indiana.  Kain Tool, Inc. is among a half dozen companies located in the Orland Industrial Park.  Most recently, CTA Acoustics leased a 95,000 sq. ft. facility in 2012 to manufacture fiber insulation components for the automotive industry.  Kellett and other Town Council members thanked Kain Tool for investing in the community and stated that additional growth is expected from other companies in the industrial park.
