ANGOLA, IN - (August 29, 2011) - The Steuben County Economic Development Corporation announced that David Koenig has been selected as the new executive director for the organization effective October 3, 2011. Koenig will replace Susan Miller who has worked for the Corporation since 2007 and as executive director since March. Miller will help transition Koenig into the position and then will be relocating to California with her husband.
Koenig has served as executive director for Region III-A Development and Regional Planning Commission since September 2002. Prior to joining Region III-A, Koenig spent eight years as the executive director for the Jennings County Economic Development Commission in North Vernon, Indiana and as the executive director for the Stake County Development Foundation in Knox, Indiana in 1990 and 1991. Koenig started his career with Region III-A in 1985 and also served as a Community Development Planner with the Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council in Fort Wayne. In addition, he worked with the Bristol Tool & Engineering, Ltd. of Bristol, England to establish a sales and service facility in North Vernon from 1991 to 2001.
"Dave's experience in economic development will be a great asset to the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation and for Steuben County and Northeast Indiana. Through his work with Region III-A, he is very knowledgeable about the region and Steuben County", stated Chris Snyder, President of the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. The SCEDC Board of Directors thanks Susan Miller for her years of service to the organization and wishes her the very best in all future endeavors.
Koenig will continue in his current position at Region III-A through September 23rd. "I'm happy with the strides we were able to make at Region III-A over the past nine years. We've grown the sources and amount of federal funds being returned to the region in support of community and economic development, and built a stronger organization. Now I am looking forward to October and the chance to work at the community-level again. When we align and focus our efforts, there'll be no limits for Steuben County," said Koenig.
