Washington, DC – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announces that the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) has been recognized as one of 87 economic development organizations accredited by IEDC as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO).
“Steuben County Economic Development Corporation displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” said IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle.
The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, programs, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.
Earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the SCEDC has attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well-placed, and their business is in good hands.
Maintenance of the AEDO status is required every three years and is accomplished through documentation submission and/or onsite visits by a team of the AEDO subcommittee.
“We are proud to be among the 87 organizations who have taken this step in their history to become accredited. It was not an easy process, as we started with an idea that we wanted to work towards this accreditation over three years ago. We have so many personally to thank that are/were part of this process. From past board members to current board members who made the decision to move forward, to community and organizational stakeholders who support and challenge us to become better; and so many more! This accreditation is an accomplishment for all who are part of what we do to create a successful Steuben County.” says SCEDC Executive Director Isaac Lee.
