Indiana Offers Up to $50,000 in Workforce Training Reimbursements for Eligible Employers
Developing a skilled workforce is essential to business success, and Indiana is helping employers invest in the people who drive their organizations forward.
Through the Power Up INdiana Program, the State of Indiana and the Office of Commerce are encouraging businesses to strengthen their workforce by providing training, professional development, and opportunities for career advancement.
For Steuben County employers, this program offers an opportunity to offset qualifying workforce training expenses while supporting employee retention, skill development, and long-term business growth.
What Is Power Up INdiana?
Power Up INdiana is a workforce development reimbursement program designed to encourage businesses to invest in their employees.
Eligible employers may receive:
- Up to $5,000 per employee in reimbursement for qualifying training expenses.
- Up to $50,000 per employer in total reimbursement.
- Support for employee upskilling, reskilling, and professional development.
- Opportunities for statewide recognition through the Power Up Champion initiative.
The program is open to Indiana businesses of all sizes and across all industry sectors.
What Types of Training Qualify?
Power Up INdiana supports a variety of workforce development activities, including:
Technical Skills Development: Industry-recognized training credentials that help employees strengthen specialized skills.
Cross-Training and Reskilling: Training that prepares employees to take on new responsibilities or transition into different roles.
Leadership Development: Programs that prepare employees for supervisory and management opportunities.
Apprenticeships: Structured training programs that combine learning and career advancement.
Training must meet program requirements, including resulting in a certification.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
To qualify for reimbursement, employers must meet several requirements:
- Employees must meet the program's $20 starting wage requirement.
- Eligible training must be completed with satisfactory outcomes.
- Participating employees must receive at least a 10% wage increase.
- The wage increase must be maintained for two consecutive quarters.
- Employers must document qualifying training costs.
- Businesses must have a physical Indiana location and a State Unemployment Tax Account number.
Training completed as far back as January 1, 2026, may be considered for reimbursement. All reimbursements are subject to eligibility, local review, and available state funding.
Why Does This Matter for Steuben County?
Steuben County's employers understand that a skilled, adaptable workforce is critical to remaining competitive.

- Prepare workers for advancement opportunities.
- Build stronger internal talent pipelines.
- Support employee retention through career growth and increased wages.
- Offset qualifying workforce training expenses.
Rather than relying solely on recruiting new employees, businesses can invest in the people already contributing to their success.
