Incumbent Worker Training Program

This grant program is offered by the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) in partnership with Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), with support from the Don Wood Foundation.

Purpose

The purpose of the Incumbent Worker Training Program is to help manufacturers upskill their workforce, strengthen leadership pipelines, and enhance overall operational performance. By investing in employee development, the program supports increased productivity, improved retention, and long-term business growth.

How It Works

  1. Employers may apply for funding support
  2. The SCEDC reviews and approves applications based on overall impact and alignment with program goals
  3. Purdue MEP delivers the training
  4. SCEDC pays a portion of the cost directly to the training provider
  5. The employer is responsible for the remaining balance
